Note: 1985 and Later Lincoln Town Car requires four (4) 3/8” spacer blocks, not provided, between hitch and vehicle frame.
Note: 1995-1997, 2003 & Later Lincoln Town Car external dress panel beneath vehicle must be removed for hitch installation and returned to vehicle
owner.
1. Examine bottom of frame rails of vehicle. To allow the hitch to sit flat, any weld spatter must be removed from frame rails. Remove all but a
thin film of undercoating from attaching surfaces.
2. Fishwire 1/2” Carriage bolt and 1/4 X 1-1/2 X 3 block through body mount access hole, located on bottom of frame rail into existing slot.
3. Raise hitch into position over bolts and install conical washer and nut. Be certain that both sides of hitch are in the same location in the slots
(i.e. Forward, Centered, Rearward, in slot).
Note: on 2003 & Later Lincoln Town Car, it will be necessary to relocate passenger side exhaust hanger bracket as follows: Unbolt hanger bracket
from vehicle frame. Remove rubber hanger from hanger bracket and tail pipe bracket. See Figure 2. Rotate rubber hanger and reattach to
hanger bracket as shown in Figure 3. Do Not reattach to tail pipe bracket at this time . Discard existing exhaust hanger bolt.
4. Using hitch as a template, drill rearward hole in bottom of each frame rail with 1/2” drill bit.
5. Drop 1/2” bolt with 1/4 X 1-1/2 X 2 block down through opening at end of each frame rail into drilled hole. It may be necessary to hold block
with one hand and bolt with other hand to work bolt down through block and hole. Turning bolt may help.
6. Install fasteners as shown in Figure 1. Tighten 1/2-13 Gr5 Fasteners to 75 LB.-FT. (102 N*M).
Tighten M8 CL8.8 Fasteners to 20 LB.-FT. (27 M*M)
7. Reattach exhaust hanger bracket as shown in Figure 3.

Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to
prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working
beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5
and SAE J684.
